The Shirley Master Plan Committee, an appointed subcommittee of the Planning Board, has been tasked with updating the town's Master Plan.
As part of a state-mandated update that must be done every 10 years, work to date includes review of the existing document: goals, implementation plans and progress.
A key item on the to-do list is a townwide survey slated for release this week.
The survey -- simple questions with response check-boxes and space for other input -- shouldn't take long and offers an opportunity for citizens to participate in the process. Basically, asking what you would like your town's Master Plan to look like.
Once completed, the new Master Plan should be a working blueprint that helps elected and appointed officials make important decisions for the town's future in the next decade.
Please pick up a survey at one of the following locations:
* Town Offices
* Hazen Memorial Library
* Lambert's True Value Hardware Store, 24 Ayer Road
* Village Pizza, Front Street
* Senior Center/COA, Parker Road
Completed surveys may be left in drop-off boxes at any of the above locations or mailed to the Master Plan Committee at the Town Offices, 1 Keady Way, Shirley, MA 01464.
