To the residents of Shirley:

I am respectfully requesting your support in the upcoming election for moderator.

I began working for our community in 1982 when I was honored to become your police chief. Since that time I have worked for our town in several different capacities.

Using my influence along with the then members of the Board of Selectmen, I was successful in drafting legislation which led to over ten million dollars to Shirley which has been used for the construction of Town Hall, Department of Public Works Garage and the Police Department.

Throughout the 30 years I have lived in Shirley I have served on several other committees to include the 1984 Master Plan, the recent Comcast contract and currently the Economic Development Committee which is designed to stabilize our tax base with business development.

After serving on the Board of Selectmen I continued to serve the board members as a nonelected member of JBOS on Devens.

During my time as a resident of Shirley, I have watched Mr. Griffin, Mrs. Noyes and recently Mr. Knittel represent the office of moderator in a professional manner expressing no opinion or using that position for any personal goal. I intend to honor that commitment allowing all of the Town Meeting members to express their thoughts and ideas on the important issues we will face.

Therefore I am stepping down effective immediately to support the fact that a moderator must not in any manner influence decisions based on his personal views or to better his own stance.

I make this pledge to the voters of Shirley and respectfully request your vote on Election Day.
