With increasing numbers of families living at or below the poverty level, some families are forced to choose between paying their rent or purchasing food, and many children across Massachusetts, including Page Hilltop students, go home on weekends without the same access to a nutritious meal that they have during the school week through a free or reduced lunch program.

At Page Hilltop School, we have begun an initiative to ensure that all of our students have balanced, nutritious foods that they need over the weekends. The concept is simple -- children at risk of weekend hunger receive a bag of food that is child-friendly, nutritious, nonperishable and easy to prepare/eat.

A recently completed needs assessment has identified over 30 students who match the criteria of need. Our school staff is determined to help these members of our school community.

We are reaching out to all members of the greater Ayer community -- both corporate and residential -- to help us reach our goal. If you would like to make a monetary donation, of any amount, we would gratefully accept it.
