What a sad sight it was to ride down Main Street of Pepperell today (Sept. 11), the anniversary of that tragic day we all remember so vividly. NO American Flags were flying to remember those that lost their lives that day; NO American Flags were flying in tribute to those who worked to save the lives that were still there to be saved.

Sept. 11, 2001, saw three teenagers put up 225 flags for 30 days at dawn and take them down at dusk to honor those who lost their lives and those who tried to rescue them.

What happened to our patriotism to not only honor those lost in wars, but the innocent lost in terrorist acts?

None of our fallen heroes should be forgotten, whether they have fallen in wars, police actions or terrorist acts. The least we can do is show our respect and raise "Old Glory" in their honor.
