I want to share the gratitude of our entire organization for the outstanding support for the Ride to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, July 13. The Ride has a strong Groton focus, as so many residents volunteer at pit stops, particularly RiverCourt; drive support vehicles; help at the Ride's main site at Devens; and actually participate as riders.

I would especially like to commend Police Chief Donald Palma and Fire Chief Joe Bosselait -- the local response from our police and first-responder medics contributed significantly to a safe event for all involved.

Since the Ride moved to Devens seven years ago, Groton has become increasingly involved and supportive. We look forward to continuing to build that relationship. As a Groton resident myself and as someone who worked at the main site, I heard from many people who had never visited our beautiful town. They were highly impressed by the town and the friendliness they experienced.

Lastly, because the Ride seeks to raise money for research and awareness about this difficult disease, I'd like to share with you that the Ride was an unprecedented success. Approximately 450 riders participated and we believe the final tally for research will be close to $500,000.

Thank you all.
