Now that the joy of the holiday season is behind us, I wanted to take a moment to publicly thank all those who made our 12th annual Ayer Police Holiday Toy Drive a huge success. The Ayer Police Department was able to collect more than 2,500 new toys, all of which were distributed locally to approximately 550 needy children by Loaves & Fishes.

This would not have been possible without the support of the good citizens of Ayer and the Ayer business community. I would like to recognize several local businesses, agencies, and organizations that were instrumental to this year's success; Renaissance Electronics Corporation, North Middlesex Savings Bank, IC Federal Credit Union, Hannaford Supermarkets, Nashoba Valley Express, Carlin's Tavern, Graphix Copy Center, Page Hilltop School, Ayer Fire Department, Ayer post office, Ayer Town Hall employees, Ayer Police Patrol Officer's Association and the Ayer Police Superior Officer's Union.

A special thanks to Joanne and James Lavoie, Michael Snee, Norm Plouffe, David Berry, Walter Naparstek, Bernadette Docekal, Robert Hebb, Joan Teno, William and Mary Noeth, Linda Guinard, Mary Spinner, Pauline Conley, Gary Luca, Walter Dwyer, and Robert Pontbriand.

I would also like to thank Nashoba Publishing, Ayer Public Spirit reporter Mary Arata, and editor Kate King for all the exposure given to our efforts to help brighten the holidays for those children in need. Your assistance was greatly needed and very much appreciated.

Best wishes for a safe and happy 2013.
