TOWNSEND -- The lawn party to be held in conjunction with the Townsend Military Band's concert on the Townsend Common on Thursday, July 20, will benefit the Kids Kountry Playground.
Money raised will be used to buy new equipment and to refurbish existing structures at the Kids Kountry Playground, located behind the Spaulding Memorial Elementary School at Eastman Street and Turnpike Road.
Hot dogs, burgers and beverages will be available for purchase by those attending the lawn party, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Ice-cream sundaes, root-beer and orange floats, popcorn, and a variety of homemade baked goods will also be on sale. Children attending the concert will be able to have their face painted, play in a bounce house, and win prizes by playing the pot luck, noodle smash and lollipop games.
The Townsend Military Band, under the direction of Thomas Souza, will open its concert at 7:30 p.m., and conclude at 9:30 by playing "The Star-Spangled Banner."
