HARVARD -- Bromfield High School is moving on to compete on Season 8 of WGBH's High School Quiz Show. Their academic team was among the top 16 highest scoring Massachusetts high schools at "Super Sunday," where they took the High School Quiz Show qualifying exam.
More than 110 schools vied for a spot on the broadcast. The schools that received the 16 highest scores on an oral quiz at the Super Sunday qualifying event held earlier this month at WGBH's studios in Brighton, will move on to the next phase of the competition. Among the top 16 is defending state and Governor's Cup Champion, Lexington High School.
"The depth of knowledge that Massachusetts high school students bring to WGBH impresses me every season," said High School Quiz Show host, Billy Costa. "High School Quiz Show is so much fun to host and to watch. I know that viewers of all ages will get into the spirit of the competition as much as I do."
WGBH made the official announcement on the High School Quiz Show website Tuesday. The schools that will compete for the state title are:
* Acton-Boxborough Regional High School
* Advanced Math & Science Academy (Marlborough, MA)
* Belmont High School
* Bromfield School
* Brookline High School
* Chelmsford High School
* Dover-Sherborn High School

* Lexington High School
* Needham High School
* Newton North High School
* North Andover High School
* North Quincy High School
* Sacred Heart High School (Kingston, MA)

The top 16 teams will advance to compete in the televised, single-elimination, bracketed academic tournament that will determine a state champion.
