HARVARD -- The Harvard Schools Trust Gala Committee met recently at Markoh's on Main Street in Ayer to kick off planning for the 27th Spring Dinner-Theater Gala, which will take place March 12 at Cronin Auditorium.
The gala will begin at 6 p.m. with a play presented by the award-winning Bromfield Society, followed by a catered dinner 7:30 p.m. and silent auction from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. The event concludes at 10 p.m.
This year, the Bromfield Drama Society will perform the first act of "How the Other Half Loves," a comedy by British playwright Alan Ayckbourn, who is both a Tony and Olivier Award winner. The play is also the Bromfield Drama Society's entry into the 2016 Massachusetts High School Festival, run by the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild. The festival includes 112 one-act plays produced by member high schools.
"For more than a quarter of a century, the Gala has been one of Harvard's most coveted community events," said Terry Symula president of the Harvard Schools Trust, Inc. "It's a wonderful school-community bonding event that supports educational enrichment in our exceptional schools."
Symula said that the Gala Committee is accepting donations for the silent auction. The auction will feature local products and services from artisans and business owners. Popular items last year included a healing yoga package, fine art watercolors, an executive headshot photography session, Harvard Sweet Boutiques gift basket, Westward Orchards family apple picking, handmade mittens, author-sigend science books, and Red Sox tickets.
