HARVARD - She won't soon be forgotten. BarbaraAnn Gould had a way with children.
Parents of her kindergarten students know - she frequently sent home notes in their backpacks, thanking us for sharing our sons and daughters with her.
Gould, 50, died in an accident Saturday night, drowning in her family's hot tub at home on Harvard Road in Bolton. Classes resumed today with a caring cadre of assistants waiting to greet the students in Gould's kindergarten classroom.
Children were to assume a regular schedule as they come to terms with the loss. Grief councilors were made available to students and parents in the Hildreth Elementary School cafeteria.
Gould's influence stretches across the street, too, to the Bromfield School. Gould's students have graduated onto the middle school, high school and beyond.
Gould had been a teacher at Hildreth (formerly known as Harvard) Elementary School since 1990. Gould worked in the special education field at the school, and taught third and fifth graders. In recent years, however, Mrs. Gould has held court in the kindergarten wing as one of many beloved kindergarten teachers at HES.
Gould is survived by her husband, Jeff Gould, and daughter Darby Gould, who is a senior at Nashoba Regional High School.
Funeral arrangements have been planned for 10:30 on Saturday, March 23rd at the Unitarian Church in Harvard. This will be followed by a reception at Fellowship Hall.
