ASHBURNHAM -- An 18-year-old Groton man who allegedly stole and killed a baby goat is facing multiple charges including animal cruelty.
Dominick Tidd was arrested Sunday, said Lt. Chris Conrad of the Ashburnham Police Department.
The goat, which was named Marshmellow and due to be adopted, was reported missing and found dead Thursday about 100 yards away from its pen, which had a rectangular hole cut into it.
Police found evidence that the suspect led the goat away from the pen and killed it. The animal had been stabbed several times and had its throat cut, Conrad said.
Tidd, who was listed as homeless, had a last known address in Groton, Conrad said.
The arrest came as a result of a joint investigation between Ashburnham police Det. Rob Siano and Groton police.
In addition to animal cruelty, Tidd was charged with larceny under $250 and destruction of property, police said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Winchendon District Court.
