'American Farm Implements': 2 p.m., the Groton Historical Society and Groton Grange #7 are co-sponsoring a talk by John Ott on "American Farm Implements: Tools, Technology and Agricultural Innovation in New England" at the 80 Champney St. Grange. His talk will outline the development of a distinctly New England approach to farming, and he will show images and bring farm tools used in the region. Free and open to the public, thanks to a grant from the Commissioners of Groton Trust Funds.

Guided Trail Hike: 1 p.m. sharp. Join members of the Groton Trails Committee on an early spring guided hike through the woods on the trails of Throne Hill in West Groton. This conservation area is owned by the Groton Conservation Trust and is habitat for deer, bears, porcupines, fishers, moose, and beavers. It also features upland terrain and some interesting wetlands. Our walk on the Throne trails will take about two hours and is suitable for families with children. Dogs must be well behaved and kept under owner's control. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. The hike will be held it is very stormy. Meet at the end of Castle Drive (42.6260N, 71.6171W), off of Pepperell Road.


Girls' Softball Spring Registration is Open -- PreK through ninth grade

Spring is here and softball is a great way for girls to get outside, learn teamwork and skills, and make friends. There is still time for girls in grades Pre-K through ninth to sign up for the Groton-Dunstable Youth Softball League, which starts in late April. Previous softball experience is not required. Free Dinner, Live Music, and Good Company

All are welcome to the next Groton Community Dinner on Friday, April 26, at First Parish Church at the intersection of Routes 40 and 119 in Groton. Dinner is served continuously from 5:45-7 p.m. Come for live music, delicious food, and good company. The menu for April 26 includes spinach feta salad, spring chicken with zucchini and tomatoes or zucchini with tomatoes and chickpeas, couscous, and pineapple upside down cake.

Town election April 30

Candidates for the Groton Annual Town Election have been determined by the nomination process. Please visit this page for more information on the seats and candidates.

The Groton Annual Town Election will be conducted on April 30, the same day as the Special State Primary. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The polling locations for Precincts 2 and 3 has been changed, effective with the April 30, 2013, elections. These precincts formerly voted at the Middle School, but will now vote at the Prescott School building, 145 Main St. Precinct 1 will continue to vote at the Groton Senior Center at 163 West Main St.
