Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will play supervillain Black Adam in DC Comics' and New Line's upcoming superhero film "Shazam!"
"'Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.' My honor to become #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics," the 42-year-old actor tweeted, with a picture of the comic book bad guy.
Black Adam is the main adversary to the title character Shazam (which used to be Captain Marvel, but isn't anymore because of a lawsuit and Marvel's decision to develop its own Captain Marvel, none of which I understand when I put on my red tights and run around my yard screaming "Shazam" until my neighbors call the police).
Anyway ... DC Comics describes Black Adam as "a champion turned villain whose quest for dominance over all magic drives him to destroy anything that stands in his path."
So ... he's basically Darth Vader without a lightsaber.
There's no word yet on when production will start or when the film might be released.
