Harvard officials will soon hold a hearing on two dogs charged with killing 18 chickens at a neighbor's house.
The photo above, being in black-and-white, spares you the view of the wounds along this chicken's back as it lies dead, in its own pen, at one dog's feet.
We would venture to guess that most people like dogs to one degree or another. We also believe that the vast majority of dogs are good and only misbehave when their owners fail to train them and keep them under control.
We can't say whether the well-being of these chickens is important to most, but it certainly was to their owner. They were her pets and well-known to those who came to buy the eggs they produced.
Those upset by this occurrence are asking what needs to happen before the town requires that dogs are kept under the control of their owners -- the harming of a child? We hope not.
