PEPPERELL -- If you love flowers and working in your yard, you may want to consider joining the Pepperell Garden Club or attending an informative meeting or two. The Pepperell Garden Club is open to residents from all towns.
The program on Sept. 10 will be our annual plant swap. Bring a labeled perennial or houseplant and swap it for another. The program will be followed by the business meeting and as always, refreshments will be served.
The Pepperell Garden Club dates back as early as 1968 and is still going strong. Meetings along with an instructive program are held on the second Wednesday of the month from September through June at the Pepperell Senior Center on Route 111 at 7 p.m.
Many members knew little about gardening when they joined but have learned great deal. There are many friendly members of all ages and from many towns. Delicious refreshments are always served. The annual dues are $15 for a year of great programs and events. Or come and pay a $5 ($2 for seniors) guest fee for the program.
The Pepperell Garden Club is an active organization. Some of the members take care of the flowers at the rotary, Senior Center, VFW and at Town Hall. A few of the members worked on Main Street beautification. Have you noticed the beautiful landscaping near the VFW and the holiday wreaths around town?
Many members attend summer garden safaris to enjoy the beauty of local gardens.
Best of all the Pepperell Garden Club has its well known annual plant sale at the Senior Center in May.
Members are encouraged to attend programs and events. The more they do, the more fun they have. That's what makes it a great organization.
