GROTON -- Fifth time's a charm, especially when it includes the historical charms of a Summer Saturday evening in picturesque Groton. The Groton Summer Concert Series returns for its fifth year! Main Street Cafe , with cooperation from the Groton Parks Commission announces the Summer 2014 lineup:

July 5 -- JD West, acoustic rock duo performing modern and classic rock.

July 12 -- Trusting Fate, imaginative rock, folk, bluegrass and blues.

July 19 -- Patty Keough and Some Guys from Space (Kenny Selcer, Michael Miller, Phil Punch).

July 26 -- Spy Tones, original music in the style of the classic 60's surf bands.

Aug. 2 -- Patty Axford Trio plays Jazz to Folk favorites

Aug. 9 -- GS Picard & Friends, Cooper & Kenneally, Marty Nestor, Bob Pope; mix of originals & covers, folk, rock and more.

Aug. 16 -- Soul Flyer, rock & blues for the soul!

* Aug. 23 -- The Rafters, Elizabeth Lorrey and Back to the Garden present Rockin Summer, mix of summer classics from the past 60 years!

* Aug. 30 -- Snow Crow, Groton's Earth Soul, "make you feel good" music.

* Concert starts at 5:30 p.m.

Presented each Saturday from July 5 through Aug. 30, the live music shows will be held at the bucolic town gazebo behind Groton Public Library at 99 Main St. Featuring well-accomplished, local musicians, shows are free but (gratuities appreciated) and will run from 6-8 p.m.


Families are invited to attend the all-age shows. The gazebo is located right next to the library's playground, so parents can enjoy live music while the kids play. "A warm summer evening concert is a great way to spend time with the family and enjoy an old time small town setting," says Main Street Cafe co-owner Bob Wright.

The musicians have volunteered their time and talent, while Main Street Café produces the shows. All concerts are weather-permitting. Performers are subject to change.
