GDSTEM is pleased to announce it has awarded its first $500 scholarship for a summer STEM enrichment program to Leah Mitchell of Groton, a sophomore at Groton Dunstable Regional High School.

Leah will be attending a National Youth Leadership Forum: Careers in Engineering & Technology at Georgia Tech, Atlanta, Georgia, at the end of June, and was nominated for the program by her engineering teacher.

The 8-day program will expose students to different fields of engineering and offer hands-on extension activities. In her essay, Leah reported she has loved science, math and engineering for as long as she can remember and hopes the experience will help her narrow down a career path and help with the college decision process.

GDSTEM is a volunteer organization of parents, educators and community partners with the goal of promoting and supporting science, technology, engineering and math education in Groton-Dunstable schools.
