Friends Annual Membership Drive
The Friends of the Hazen Memorial Library provide the funding for Museum Passes, Children's programs, afternoon arts and crafts, animal shows, magicians and the Summer Reading Programs Fizz, Boom, Read! and Spark a Reaction.
The money raised provides all of these programs that residents enjoy and have come to expect from our library. These funds are vital for jump-starting new programs and services.
The Friends look forward to greeting new members and building on their efforts to support what is proving to be a continually surprising resource, the town library. The next meeting will be in September, at the library. Check online calendar for the date.
Mail to: P.O. Box 653, Shirley, MA 01464.

Farmers markets Thursdays starting July 10
Shirley Center Farmers Market will open for the season on Thursday, July 10, beginning at 4 p.m., on the Shirley Historic Center Common, 3 Parker Road. The market will be open until dusk weekly through Sept. 25.
This year's vendors include local farms, honey, syrup, baked goods, cheeses, meats, goat milk products, locally roasted coffee beans, fine local crafters and much more!
As always, we'll have free live local entertainment on the Center Stage each week to put you in the mood for a lazy summer evening on our scenic and historic common.
Join us on opening day, July 10, for the beautiful sounds of Cooper & Kenneally, who will play an entertaining mix of roots, folk-rock, rockabilly, country and blues. We will also be graced with a visit by Henry David Thoreau, who will be wandering the lawn and giving a lecture inside the historic First Parish Meeting House. Don't miss this exciting day!
New this year will be weekly kids' activities beginning at approximately 4 p.m. These craft- or food-related activities are free, with the exception of tie-dye day, for which you will need to bring your own white T-shirt or pillowcase. Come to the farmer's market to pick up a schedule of all of our kids' activities.
