GROTON -- Groton eighth-grade students Jordan Wynn and Mark DeBinder were recipients of the 2014 Scholar Leader Award, receiving certificates at last Wednesday night's graduation ceremony.

Sponsored by the Commonwealth of Mass. Middle Level Educators and the New England League of Middle Schools, the award is presented to two eighth-grade students who distinguish themselves in terms of outstanding scholarship and leadership.

Principal Steven Silverman said students chosen must demonstrate academic achievement, provide service to classmates and school, be a positive role model for peers and demonstrate integrity, honesty, self-discipline and courage.
