TOWNSEND -- The Townsend Community Couples Club will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band's Thursday, June 12, concert on the Townsend Common. Proceeds from the lawn party will be used to fund the annual $500 scholarship the Couples Club will present to a 2015 North Middlesex Regional High School graduate as well as supporting other worthwhile community causes and projects.
Couples Club members will cook hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages to sell to those attending the concert. Fried dough and cold soda and bottled water will also be available for purchase.
A wide selection of home baked goods and plants will be offered for sale.
Children attending the concert may win prizes by playing a variety of games set up on the Common that evening for their enjoyment.
The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing a fanfare and "America." The "Little English Girl" march by Delle Reese, Mozart's "Magic Flute" overture and "Jupiter" by Holst will be performed. "Pavanne" by Morton Gould, "Porgy and Bess" by Gershwin and Goldman's "On Guard" march will be included in the first portion of the concert.
Following intermission the Townsend Band will play the "Sea Songs" march by Vaughn Williams and Beethoven's "Egmont" overture. "Sinatra in Concert" arranged by Nowak and "America the Beautiful" will be performed before the band concludes its program at 9:30 by playing the "Star Spangled Banner."
