GROTON -- Groton Greenway is proud to present Groton River Festival at the Petapawag Boat Launch on Sunday, June 8, starting at 11 a.m.

This is a rain or shine event with barbecue and other food available for purchase from the Groton Firefighters Association. All are welcome and all activities are free, thanks to our generous sponsors. Activities include arts and crafts, live music, canoeing, nature exhibits, live animals and make your own canoe for the cardboard canoe race.

Parking is provided at Deluxe Corp, 500 Main St., with a Buckingham Bus shuttle to the festival entrance on Nod Road at the Petapawag Boat Launch. The site is the perfect place to picnic, enjoy the river and participate in the festivities.

The River Festival seeks to educate about the Nashua River and animals who live in and near the river. Many local groups will be displaying, with hands-on activities and animal exhibits.

The Groton Greenway encourages public access to and enjoyment of our beautiful waterways and is extremely proud of the role that the rebuilt Fitch's bridge plays to connect West Groton and Groton trails. Ducks Unlimited will provide boat rides from the festival to see the new Fitch's bridge.

Donations for funding of future festivals are gratefully received at the entrance or may be sent to Groton Town Hall for the Greenway Committee River Festival Gift Account.
