Charter Communications cable subscribers in the Nashoba Valley region will soon become Comcast customers.
Pepperell Town Administrator John Moak announced at the Board of Selectmen meeting on April 29 that Charter will no longer be operating in the region.
According to Charter spokesperson Alex Dudley, Charter is leaving New England and is trading its subscribers in this area to Comcast in exchange for subscribers in other areas.
"We announced an agreement this week that we'd be acquiring some subscribers from Comcast and trading some assets with them as well. The New England area is one of the ones we're transferring to Comcast," Dudley said.
Charter currently serves customers in Harvard, Groton and Pepperell.
The transition date is dependent on approval of a pending merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable, but Dudley said the switch could happen by the end of this year.
A spokesperson for Comcast said that at this point in the process, it is too early to know whether customers will see changes in rates or service after the switch.
