PEPPERELL -- Twenty-one contestants competed for prizes at the Pepperell Woman's Club (PWC) Community Talent Show on Friday, May 9 at the Nissitissit Middle School auditorium. The acts included singers and musicians and provided lots of enjoyment for the audience.

Prizes were awarded to the top contestant in each of six categories. Michael Limbaugh won in the adult singer category with the country tune "Almost Home"; Kaylee Tanguay won in the teenage bracket singing "Stay"; and 10-year-old Daniel Hunter won in the junior bracket with his crowd pleasing rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'".

Eight-year-old musician Ashlynn Dean won in the junior instrument category by playing "Welsh Dance" on her harp; Nina Robinson won in the teenage category by playing "Concerto for Flute in G Major"; and adult winners Angela Tseng and Pegeen Eslami treated the audience to a piano and violin performance of Brahms Sonata No. 1, 3rd Movement.

This was the eleventh year the PWC has hosted this entertaining event in Pepperell. During intermission, desserts, snacks and refreshments were enjoyed by the contestants and audience members.

Auction items donated by local businesses and community members were raffled at the end of the show.


Winners received gift certificates or merchandise from Bailey's Bar and Grille, The Bronze Bell, Donelan's Supermarkets, Exotic Nails and Spa, Hannaford's Supermarkets and Lorden's True Value Hardware. Handmade items and other donations were provided by Jeanne Blanchard, Sandie Hanson, Ginger Pillsbury, Lynne Potts and Nancy Whalen.

Funds raised at the Talent Show are applied to scholarships to local students. A grant from the Hazel Brooks Entertainment Fund generously supported the talent show. Advertisers in the show program also contributed to the success. Advertisers included community businesses Attorney Sheila Harrington, Bailey's Bar and Grille, Bailey's on the Green, Covered Bridge Country Store, Dolce, LL&S Development Corporation, Maple Dene and Moppet School, and Masy Systems, Inc.; and personal sponsors "The Bayberry Ladies", Ann Horgan, Chet and Carole Babineau, Joyce and Lewis Lunn, Elfriede Parker 1st Vice President of the GFWC of Massachusetts, and the family of 8-year-old contestant Jailyn Merrill.
