Calling All Crafters for 33rd Annual Spring Craft Fair
Amateur and professional craftspeople are invited to display and sell their original works at Townsend's 33rd Annual Spring Craft Fair, Saturday, May 17. Registration is $25 for a 12-by-12-foot site. Fifty-five craftspeople can be accommodated in a friendly and busy outdoor area on Townsend Common, located at the junction of routes 13 and 119 in Townsend Center.
The Craft Fair is sponsored by Townsend United Methodist Church and is a long-time favorite Springtime event for crafters and fair-goers. The fair offers crafts from all across New England, a full food-court, baked goods, music, plants, silent auction, plenty of free parking, and restroom facilities.

The Friends of the Library are now accepting donations for the Spring Book Sale
Book sale dates and times: Friday, May 9, 4-7 p.m.; Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Friends Spring Plant and Flower Sale will be held Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Please consider becoming an active member of the Townsend Public Library Friends, a group that dates back to 1967, by attending one of our monthly meetings.

Townsend's Annual Easter Sunrise Service April 20
Townsend's annual Easter Sunrise Service is Sunday, April 20, at 5:45 a.m. at The Cooperage at the corner of Route 119 and South Street. This meaningful service overlooking the Harbor Pond is hosted by Townsend United Methodist Church and everyone is welcome. All are invited to stay afterward for coffee and homemade cinnamon buns.

Learn to Henna April 22 at 7 p.m.
Bring a friend and learn the basics of henna design and application.
Each person will have a chance to practice on themselves, and each other.
You will leave with a tube of henna to keep!

Animal Adventures at Earth Day on the Townsend Common April 26
Earth Day will be held Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain date: Sunday, April 27, noon-4 p.m. on the Town Common.
Music, crafts, animals, environmental organizations, food and fun! This year's theme, "Jump and Slither" with frogs, snakes and turtles.
Animal Adventures will be presenting its interactive animal talk from 1-2 p.m.
The textile competition, between all of the school district towns (Ashby, Pepperell and Townsend), will be held in the rear parking lot. We are expecting 45 vendors, 15 nonprofit groups and we have an amazing line up of talent, both on the bandstand and on the green!
Vendors are still wanted: $25 per 12-foot-by-12-foot spot. No fee for nonprofit groups. Check should be made out to Town of Townsend and mailed to Karen Clement, 101 Main St., Townsend, MA 01469 by March 22. You bring your own tables, chairs and easy-up.

Turkey dinner April 26
Townsend Congregational Church invites you to enjoy a Turkey Dinner with all the fixings on Saturday, April 26, from 5-6:30 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 through 8. As always, children under 3 eat free! Dinners are also available for take-out.

Fire station tour and talk April 27
A Fire Station Tour and Information Session will be held on Sunday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come tour our fire stations and headquarters and learn more about the Townsend Fire Station Building Committee plan to consolidate four of its current buildings into one, modern station to better serve the residents of Townsend. The following buildings will be open: Fire-EMS headquarters, 13 Elm St.; Station 1, 272 Main St. (municipal garage at rear of Memorial Hall), Station 2, 460 Main St., West Townsend; Center Station, 8 Elm St. Members of the department will be on hand at each station to show present conditions within which the department operates and answer questions. Spring Fishing Derby Sunday May 4
The Townsend Rod and Gun Club is holding the Annual Spring Fishing Derby on Sunday, May 4. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the derby will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Fishing Derby is at the club pond, off Emery Road on Dann Colburn Way, off Route 13 in Townsend. Watch for direction signs along the way.
Entry fee is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12. The pond will be stocked with hungry rainbow and brown trout and the kitchen will be open for breakfast and lunch. Get out your gear and come down for some spring fun.
The fishing derby is open to all area adults and children and it promises to be a fun-filled day! Please bring your own fishing bait. Fishing licenses are not needed and Townsend Rod and Gun Club membership is not required. Call Jon at 978-597-2440 for information about the spring derby.

Dinner to celebrate TEO's 30th year of service to Townsend
May 10, at 6 p.m., at Townsend Ridge Country Club, 40 Scales Lane, Townsend, Greensview Ballroom.
$30 per person, tickets may be purchased from a TEO member at your church or McNabb Pharmacy.
The dinner will include a dedication of our facility on Bayberry Hill Road and a memorial celebration of co-founder Jim Clish.
Nonperishable food items are always welcome.

Ashby Spring Festival May 17
Bring your favorite lawn chair to the Ashby Common on Main Street on Saturday, May 17, and spend the day with our crafters and vendors. We'll have a great variety of food and wares for you to shop and sample.
We have a kid's corner with games and prizes along with a bouncy slide. There are even crafters selling items just for kids. There is a bake sale table and food provided during the day by our own Ashby Fire Department and the Square and Compass organization.
At the gazebo, the magic show starts at 10:30 a.m. with Ed, the Wizard; at 11:30 a.m., there'll be a FitCamp 360 Demo with Lisa Stamm; music starts at noon courtesy of Driftwood Creek; and at 2 p.m., there will by a Zumba Demo by Julie Quirk
The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date: May 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and is sponsored by Ashby Elementary School. Inquiries: Susan 978-386-7572.

Annual plant sale by Pepperell Garden Club -- 8 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, May 17, at (NEW location) the Pepperell Senior Center, Route 111, on Nashua Road. Beautiful healthy unusual annuals, member's hardy perennials, wildflowers and groundcovers, shrubs and trees, vegetables and herbs, and hanging baskets.
