To: Local Building Contractors

From: John Moak, Town Administrator

Monday, March 31, 6:30 p.m., Town Hall Lower Level

Board of Selectmen Chair Stephen Themelis has asked me to invite you to an exploratory meeting on the town's consideration to implement the Stretch Energy Code as part of the town's Building Code.

This action is being considered for a number of reasons:

* Numerous aspects of the code have already been introduced to the State Building Code.

* Most communities in the area have adopted this code. Pepperell wants to incorporate the latest revisions of the Energy Code by adopting at Town Meeting.

* The Stretch Energy Code is one of five criteria for the town to apply for Green Community Status. This designation would assist the town in applying for energy grants to improve town owned buildings.

Prior to introducing this code to the Town Meeting, the Board of Selectmen would like your input. There will be a presentation by Mike Berry representing the D.O.E.R. at this meeting. We believe the meeting will take about 45 to 60 minutes.
