PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Michael Brown, a 12th-grader from Shirley, was one of five Portsmouth Abbey students who were recently awarded keys in the 2014 R.I. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Competition.
Michael won in the Ceramics category for "Red Cubed Vessel." Other Portsmouth Abbey students who won Gold Keys were Luxi Yang '14, for her drawing, "Prajna;" and Jee Won "Christine" Yang '15, for her drawing, "Human Factory."
Silver Key winners were Xin "Michelle" Liu '15, for her oil painting, "Fabric Study," and Dani Banky '14, for her mixed-media collage, "Wanderlust."
The Gold Key-winning entries will be submitted to the International Scholastic Art Awards competition that is held annually in New York City.
