In 2008, the Harvard School Committee began the process of developing and initiating its first 5-year Strategic Plan as directed by the Department of Education. This plan was approved by the School Committee to extend for an extra year to allow for the hiring of a new superintendent as it was felt they should be an integral contributor to the new plan.
It is now 2014 and we are back to updating and creating a new 3-5 year plan.
The Strategic Plan reflects what the Harvard community expects from the schools in order to serve the educational needs of the students. Each year, the Strategic Plan is evaluated so that it can guide the district improvement efforts over the 3-5 years of the plan. The individual schools then develop school improvement plans based on the Strategic Plan and the resources available to implement them for the following year.
A subcommittee of parents, teachers, administrative staff, community members and a student have been meeting for several months to develop and streamline our vision for the schools.
We are seeking input from all members of Harvard/Devens to help us pick the Core Values that best define our district. The Core Values will be the foundation for creating the Mission Statement and Vision Statement. Once these are determined, the administration will meet to formulate the District Plan based on these beliefs.
A survey has been organized and is available on the school website homepage.
There are three options for each core value (five all together) and we would like you to pick your top choice for each one.

3. This will take you to the homepage of the survey with explanations of what this is about and answers to questions you may have.
4. Click on the site for the survey, complete and submit.
