The Groton Public Library hosted coffee and dessert in December for the facilitators (shown above) who volunteered their time with the Lifelong Learning Program this past year.
Facilitators created the curriculum for their seminars and then led the groups of eight to 24 participants who registered for the course. Courses typically ran six consecutive weeks for several hours each.
Lifelong Learning course offerings were all held free of charge, thanks to those who volunteered their time, knowledge and talent for the benefit of the community and thanks to library staff, who gave freely of their time to publicize, organize and assist with the courses. All lifelong learning courses were supported by the Groton Public Library Endowment Fund.
Courses offered this year were designed to appeal to a wide range of interests: astronomy, film, TED talks, short stories, women's history, art, foreign affairs, transcendentalism and justice.
If you are interested in developing a course to be offered at the Groton Public Library, please contact Mary Jennings, at firstname.lastname@example.org, who is assisting in the curriculum coordination of this emerging program, or Library Director Vanessa Abraham.
