AYER -- If you're already dreading the raw, cold wind, icy snow, and the horrendous monthly fuel and utility bills that will arrive each month this winter, there's a free local seminar on Tuesday, Oct. 8, that will help you significantly reduce those burdensome bills.

Scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Natural Café and Market, 25 Main St., the free seminar will explain how homeowners can radically cut their fuel and energy bills through the MassSave Program, which provides free energy assessments, free energy-saving "air-sealing" of drafty structural areas and cost reimbursements up to 75 percent for attic insulation. The benefits of the program are open to any residential property owners who receive electricity bills from NStar or NationalGrid, and have one to four units in their residence building.

Seminar presenters will explain how to apply and prepare for the free audits, free air-sealings and reduced-cost attic insulation programs.

Audits typically assess and make recommendations for insulation, hot water use, CFC lighting and air sealing of drafty areas. Incandescent bulbs are typically switched out for CFC low-energy-use bulbs free of charge as part of the audit.

The free seminar will be presented by MassSave contractor, Next Step Living, in cooperation with the Ayer Green Communities and Energy Committees.

Refreshments will be served.
