The LUK Mentoring Program is looking for bike enthusiasts to take part in the Rodman Ride for Kids to be held on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity raising funds for youth focused social-service agencies that support at-risk children in Massachusetts.

The Ride event, a 25-, 50- and 100-mile noncompetitive cycling tour, takes place each fall in Foxboro. Their mission is to have every kid in our communities live as we would want our own kids to live. The ride is ranked 4th nationwide among all single day athletic fundraisers; 61 million dollars has been raised since 1991 and 18,240 businesses and individuals supported the Ride in 2012.

Affiliated agencies along with other beneficiaries raise funds through corporate sponsorships and ridership. In turn, the ride matches those funds at a rate of 10% when the agencies meet their predetermined fundraising goals. 100 % of all expenses are underwritten by the Ride.

There are 46 affiliated child welfare agencies who participate in the Rodman Ride for Kids and LUK Mentoring rides under the Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) group of mentoring agencies. LUK Mentoring's goal this year is to raise at least $6,000, with 10 riders raising $600 each. Funds will go directly back to the program to support mentor/mentee matches and serve more youth in the Central MA area.
