AYER -- 3Rivers Arts was nominated for Enterprise Bank's 2013 Celebration of Excellence Award in the Nonprofit of the Year category, which honors the entrepreneurial and community spirit of individuals and organizations who have made an immeasurable difference, and who give back in deep and significant ways. This is the organization's first nomination for this honor.

3Rivers Arts' work to enrich the communities of North Central Massachusetts through the arts and humanities, with programs such as the Artworks Summer Camp, Youth Theatre, Artist Collaborative, and creative economy initiatives landed the organization the nomination.

"We are thrilled to have been nominated and recognized for our work to enrich community life in our region," said 3Rivers Arts Executive Director Monica Hinojos. "We look forward to bringing more creative and economic opportunities to our community, to make summer programs like our Artworks Camp accessible to children of diverse economic backgrounds, and to stimulating the local economy through art-based initiatives."

Forty years since its founding as Groton Center for the Arts in May 1973, 3Rivers Arts continues the mission to provide quality arts education and events, while expanding its reach to support local artists and spur the creative economy to enrich community life.

3Rivers Arts' expanded focus includes:

1. Community Arts Engagement Programs (Education and Events): Offering diverse programs that provide a rich array of opportunities for learning and self-expression; reaching out to the region with our events, and building creative partnerships.

2. Artists Collaborative: Providing local artists with many and varied opportunities for their work to be seen and heard.

3. Creative Economy Initiative: Embracing the creative sector as a vibrant, economic engine for the region. The arts are the heartbeat of many communities, and when it comes to reviving downtown centers, increasing tourism and generating jobs, there are few motors as powerful as the arts.
