Individuals who want to learn about volunteer opportunities in their community can find more than 100 different opportunities through United Way of North Central Massachusetts' Volunteer Center, Community Builders. This week's featured opportunity:

Townsend Public Library is looking for volunteers who can give a few hours a week to shelve books, check shelves, assist with programs in the children's room, help with after school supervision in the teen room, and assist with library operations.

Volunteers will receive training and orientation to the library. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have the signed permission of a parent or guardian, as well as a signature recommendation from a teacher.
