GROTON -- The public is welcome to attend Groton School's Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols originated in England in 1880 and has been a Groton School tradition since 1928. The service, often referred to as a "Devotion of Christmas," is offered by most cathedrals and large churches in England. At Groton, the service takes place in St. John's Chapel, a Gothic Revival masterpiece built in 1900.
Groton School is a diverse and intimate community devoted to inspiring lives of character, learning, leadership, and service. Groton School is recognized as one of America's top boarding schools. It prepares students in grades 8 through 12 for the "active work of life."
The program is free.
