Tree lighting: Mark your calendars for the Devens Holiday Tree Lighting at 4:30 p.m. at the Devens Community Center. It will feature refreshments and a special musical performance by the Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School Choir.

"How to Eat Like a Child": Concord Youth Theater's Junior Company presents the entertaining musical Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 8 and 9, at 2:30 p.m. at the Thoreau Elementary School. Based on the book by Delia Ephron, this musical romp through the joys and sorrows of being a child is hilarious. CYT's Junior Company is a newly formed company, consisting of children in grades 2-4. The cast includes Ayer resident Christopher Govang and Shirley resident Megan Powell. This will be the company's first production. The Thoreau Elementary School is located at 29 Prairie St., West Concord. Tickets are $13 each and may be purchased either online with a credit card at www.concordyouththeatre.org or to pay with cash or check, call our ticket line at 978-371-1482 to reserve them. Tickets will also be available at the door with cash or check only.

Sunday Breakfast: The Ayer Sportsman's Club resumes its Sunday Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., until Mother's Day. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, French toast, omelets, sausage, bacon and ham, and free coffee and juice. Full breakfast $7. Orders-to-go also available. Proceeds benefit the children's fund.
Ballroom dancing at Groton Country Club: The Groton Country Club will have a final ballroom dance for this year from 6-9 p.m. Music will be provided by the "Comeback Kids." Concert Band to give holiday concert: Come hear the Nashoba Valley Concert Band perform its annual concert of Christmas and Holiday music at 7 p.m. inside The Mall at Whitney Field in Leominster. The concert is free and open to the public.

Christmas Bird Count: 8 a.m. Starting point: The Oxbow Rational Wildlife Refuge's main parking lot at the end of Still River Depot Road in Harvard. Join us for a day of birding as part of the 113th National Audubon Bird Count. The CBC is citizen science at its best throughout North, Central and South America. Every year, groups of observers search a given area trying to find as many species and numbers of birds as possible. Dress for cold, adverse weather and bring binoculars, lunch and a drink. NVC Messiah sing benefit: The Nashoba Valley Chorale hosts a Messiah Sing, where the audience (plus chorale members) are the chorus, at 3 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Littleton, 330 King St., Littleton. Get in the festive spirit by joining in to sing Handel's traditional piece under the direction of Anne Watson Born. Bring your own score or borrow one from the chorale. Admission is $5.
