VFW Auxiliary plans Meat Bingo

TOWNSEND -- The VFW Auxiliary to Townsend Post No. 6538 will host a Meat Bingo in the 491 Main Street, West Townsend, VFW Function Hall on Friday evening, May 18, beginning at 7 p.m.

Meat Bingo attendees will have an opportunity to have lots of fun and socialize with the other participants while they try to win fresh cuts of meat, cash, and other assorted prizes.

Five patriotic contests for area school children, distribution of flag etiquette literature, donations of American and POW/MIA Flags, and co-sponsorship of the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Eve Santa Claus Program for all Townsend children are among the many local Community Service projects conducted by the VFW Auxiliary to Townsend Post No. 6538. The Auxiliary will use proceeds raised at the Meat Bingo to help fund some of these projects.

VFW will host Painting Night

TOWNSEND -- Townsend VFW Post No. 6538 will host a Painting Night in its 491 Main Street, West Townsend, VFW Function Hall on Wednesday, May 16, beginning at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to join in the night of painting and fun.

Tickets are $40 per person. All supplies and canvas will be provided. The ticket price also includes finger foods and a token for one beverage of the participant's choice. Additional foods and beverages will be available for purchase. There are only 30 slots available. Interested individuals should go to the VFW Post in advance to sign up and pay.


Mystery Writers Critique Group

GROTON -- Are you writing a mystery? A thriller? A suspense novel? Join this group to get helpful advice and encouragement from fellow writers.

The mystery writers group meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. to share works in progress and cheer each other on. 'The Princess King' takes the stage

PEPPERELL -- "The Princess King," presented by Pepperell Community Arts, will make its local debut at the Peter Fitzpatrick School, 45 Main St., Pepperell on Thursday, May 17 and Friday. May 18 at 7 p.m. or Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m. All tickets are $5.

The age of the cast of The Princess King ranges from 7-13. Come support our youngest actors as they take you on an adventure that contains, comedy, exciting competition, and one giant chicken-dragon named, Squawk.
