On March 25, the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School Chamber Choir performed at the Devens Common Center for the second annual GD Chamber "Fun-Raiser," which featured local bands, dancing and a silent auction.
More than 260 friends, family, and music and art aficionados enjoyed a cocktail reception while listening to smooth and sultry music by Blue Taxi, GD Jax Band and the Old Wild Men! The main attraction - the GD Chamber Choir - dressed elegantly, young ladies in black formal gowns and young men in black tuxes and bow ties! They came out strong with their uplifting voices!
Last year, the choir wowed audiences in Italy and Croatia, and this year the students made it to their next destination - Carnegie Hall, where performed last weekend with Grammy Award-winning composer Eric Whitacre.
According to Dr. Jonathan Griffith, artistic director and principal conductor for Distinguished Concerts International New York City, the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School Chamber Choir received this invitation "because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the exceptional quality of their audition recording!"
Bravo, GD Chamber Choir!
This single event raised $9,000 - and got the GD Chamber Choir to Carnegie Hall!
