Talk on dementia set for April 11

TOWNSEND -- The Alzheimer's Association will present a free program on behaviors associated with dementia on Wednesday, April 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Council on Aging, 16 Dudley Road.

"Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior" offers information to help decode behavioral messages and identify common behavior triggers. Participants will learn strategies to help intervene with the most common behavioral challenges with dementia. To register or for more information visit or call 800-272-3900.

'Canadian Kitchen Party' in Shirley

SHIRLEY -- The Shirley Meeting House presents "A Canadian Kitchen Party with Songwriter/Storyteller Nancy Beaudette" on Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m.

The consummate hometown girl, Nancy Beaudette is deeply proud of her roots in Cornwall, Ontario, a place sustained by farming and millwork where French and English languages are friendly neighbors. Suggested donation for this event is $15, with net proceeds supporting the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Shirley Meeting House. Following the concert, attendees are invited to a reception next door at the Center Town Hall where they can meet Nancy and enjoy light refreshments and a bit of old-fashioned hospitality.
