TOWNSEND -- The VFW Auxiliary to Townsend Post No. 6538 is sponsoring a Poster Contest for students in Grades 3 and 4 in conjunction with the VFW Auxiliary Department of Massachusetts.

The theme is "What being an American means to me."

The poster entries should be on construction paper or poster board and be no smaller than 8.5 inches by 11 inches and no larger than 18 inches by 24 inches.

The student's name should not be visible on the front of the poster but should be clearly printed on the back.

The Townsend Auxiliary will award $15 to its first place Poster Contest winner, $10for second place, and $5 for third place.

The Townsend Auxiliary will submit its first place-winning poster entry into the State competition where the VFW Auxiliary Department of Massachusetts will award $100 to the first place State Poster Contest winner and $50 to the second place State Poster Contest winner.

All Poster Contest entries should be submitted to VFW Auxiliary to Townsend Post No. 6538 President Betty Mae Tenney by Friday, February 9. Students attending the Spaulding Memorial Elementary School in Townsend should submit their Poster Contest entries to MissTenney through their classroom teachers.
