SHIRLEY -- Please attend the Shirley Board of Selectmen's meeting on Monday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m., to show your support, as a veteran, for our War Memorial Building.

Please wear military or Legion hats.

At this meeting, the War Memorial Board of Trustees will ask the town of Shirley to help offset some of the operating expenses of the War Memorial Building for the remainder of this winter.

These expenses have been paid in full by the Shirley American Legion the for past 22 years, after being supported by the town for some 43 years prior to that.

The Shirley American Legion has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the upkeep, maintenance and operation of the War Memorial Building since 1992. It is hoped that the town will reinstate its proper and respectful support of this building that is owned by the town and is a memorial to each Shirley veteran.

Please attend this meeting and wear your Legion hat or a hat with military markings.

Thanks and we'll see you there.
