The Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce announces its 2018 Chair, Executive Committee and four new board members. The Chamber's Board of Directors is comprised of diverse business professionals who understand the needs of its membership and possess the energy and commitment to lead the Chamber. Each new board member will serve a three-year term.

Dr. Salvatore Perla, President of Nashoba Valley Medical Center, has been elected Chair of the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors starting April 2018.

As Board chair, Dr. Perla will lead the Chamber's board that establishes Nashoba Valley Chamber policy and priorities on economic issues that affect job creation and business success in the region. Dr.

Perla will serve as Board chair for one year. He has served on the Executive Committee since 2014. Outgoing Board Chair Jason Kauppi, President of Kauppi Communications, will continue to serve on the Chamber's Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chair.

"Sal's leadership as the largest employer in Ayer will help guide us as we work to help Chamber members solve their business problems and prosper."

Perla joined Nashoba Valley Medical Center in January 2014 after serving as vice president of Milford Regional Medical Center wherehe oversaw all clinical operations, program development and real estate.

In his role, Perla was instrumental in the construction and implementation of a $30 million dollar integrated cancer center collaborative between the community hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In addition, he created three new sports medicine rehabilitation complexes, and implemented laboratory automation, introducing robotics which provided clinicians with more time for patient care and laboratory testing.

Also joining the Nashoba Valley Chamber Board of Directors: Vera Tyagi (Bristol- Myers Squibb), Jose Banchs (J & S Business Products, Inc.), Jamie Belmore (Main Street Bank), and Robert Markley (Law Office of Robert C. Markley).

Breakfast with the candidates

Increasing an educated voter turnout is a longstanding goal of the Chamber, and the May Breakfast with the Boss is a great opportunity to help achieve that goal.

May's Breakfast with the Boss Series, sponsored by Fidelity Bank, will feature candidates for the 3rd Congressional District seat including Rick Green, Rufus Gifford, Alexandra Chandler, Abhijit 'Beej' Das, Patrick Littlefield, Terence 'Terry' Ryan, Keith St. John, Bopha Malone, Daniel Koh, and Lori Trahan.
