LEOMINSTER -- A 45-year-old woman accused of assaulting her elderly mother was released on personal recognizance Tuesday after being arraigned on charges of assault and battery on a person over 60 and vandalism.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 181 Pond St. for a report of a woman bleeding from her neck. Upon arrival, the woman said she was having issues with her daughter, who was not at the home.

The apartment was in disarray, with clothes outside and a ceramic end table that was broken, possibly from a struggle, according to a police report.

The woman told officers her daughter had pushed her onto the table, causing it to break.

The daughter was identified as Marsha Morse of 31 Myrick St., Ayer.

She complained of a heart problem and was taken to the hospital before being booked at the police station.
