DEVENS -- The German parent organization of Netstal Machinery has moved the Jackson Road operations to Kentucky as part of a consolidation of its U.S. businesses.

Netstal Machinery, formerly of 57 Jackson Road in Devens, is a unit of Munich-based KraussMaffei Group that supplies high-speed precision injection molding machinery.

The news was first reported by Plastics News.

Paul Caprio, president of KraussMaffei Corp., said in a statement that the company was certain the move would be to customers' advantage because "you will be able in future to select the right product for you from the right brand and the right service from our extensive range of products and services corresponding to your needs."

A call to KrausMaffei's USA headquarters in Kentucky was not immediately returned.

KrausMaffei Group said there were no plans to reduce the number of sales, service and parts personnel as part of the move.

Mike Sansoucy, former president of Netstal USA, remains responsible for the sales and aftermarket activities of the Netstal brand as general manager, according to report in Plastics Today.

The consolidation comes as KraussMaffei Group is being acquired by a Toronto-based private equity firm, Onex. That deal, announced Sept. 26, is expected to close during the first quarter of 2013.

It's unclear how many Devens workers were affected.

Melissa Fetterhoff, president and CEO of the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce, said her most recent records suggest that Netstal employed about 35 people locally.
