SOLDIERTOWN TOWNSHIP, Maine -- A father and son from Ayer, Mass. were among four people hurt in what authorities are calling a complex snowmobile crash in northern Maine.
Warden Service officials say two snowmobiles heading in opposite directions crashed nearly head-on in Soldiertown Township late Friday morning.
WAGM-TV identified the victims:
* Robert Buzak, 49, of Ayer, suffered minor injuries.
* Buzak's son, 14, who was not further identified, suffered a broken shoulder and possibleback injuries.
* A 15-year-old boy from Lancaster, Mass., suffered a broken arm and possible concussion.
* Michael Byram, 46, of Herman, Maine, broke his collarbone and shoulder.
The Maine Warden Service said the snowmobile operated by the Lancaster teen collided with Byram's snowmobile.
The Buzaks crashed into trees while trying to avoid the crash.
Due to the remote location, it took nearly an hour and a half for rescue crews to arrive.
Game wardens say speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
