AYER -- A total of 35 articles will be on the warrants for the annual and special Spring Town Meeting.

The meeting will take place Monday at the Ayer Shirley Regional High School auditorium.

Here is a look at some of the articles that will be up for a vote:

Article 5: Fiscal Year 2019 budget

* Total proposed: $14.33 million, a 5.64 percent increase over the previous fiscal year

* $4.73 million proposed for public safety, including $2.75 million for the police department, $1.73 million for the fire department, and nearly $58,000 for regional dispatch

* Recommended by the Finance Committee

Article 6: FY 19 Ayer Shirley Regional School District assessment

* Assessment proposed: $10.69 million

* Portion of ASRSD high school building project debt service: about $977,000

* Recommended by Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee

Article 7: FY 19 Nashoba Valley Technical High School assessment

* Assessment proposed: about $680,500

* Recommended by Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee

Article 13: FY 19 Capital budget

* Total proposed to borrow: $1.47 million for 15 items

* Items include $300,000 for an ambulance, $240,000 for a hooklift truck, $200,000 for water main replacements, and $150,000 for road paving

* Recommended by Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee

* Two-thirds vote required

Article 14: Borrowing for Grove Pond Water Treatment Plant

* To authorize $4.

17 million to improve plant to remove a contaminant called Perflourinated Akyl substances (PFAS)

* PFAS were found in one drinking water well that has been taken out of service

* Without well treatment, town will not have an adequate water supply

* Recommended by Finance Committee

Article 31: Wild and Scenic River Designation

* Stewardship plan for the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers

* No cost to town

* Similar warrant articles up for consideration in other towns located near rivers

Article 32: Local sales tax for recreational marijuana product sales

* Would set a 3 percent tax on marijuana products sold by a retailer operating in town

* Tax would apply to the total sale price

* Recommended by Finance Committee

Citizen petition: Transfer station hours

* Would extend closing time to 3:00 p.m.

* Transfer station hours are currently 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
