AYER -- Two members of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church were among 245 pastors and congregation leaders at a Stephen Series Leader's Training Course (LTC) held from February 4-10 in Anaheim, CA.
Ayer resident Melinda Weber and Isabel Geller, of Devens, attended the seven-day training event hosted by the St. Louis-based Stephen Ministries organization.
Participants came from across the US and Canada to learn how to implement and direct Stephen Ministry, a system of Christian caregiving, in their congregations.
Weber and Geller were trained as Stephen Leaders at the event. One of their next steps will be to recruit, select, and train members of St. Andrew's to be Stephen Ministers, the ones who will provide one-to-one care. They will then match each Stephen Minister with an individual in need of care and provide the Stephen Ministers with ongoing supervision and continuing education.
St. Andrew's is an open and affirming congregation, located at 7 Faulkner Street in Ayer. The Service of Holy Eucharist is celebrated at 9:30 on Sundays. Child care for infants and toddlers is available. For more information, please visit www.standrewsayer.org.
