AYER -- Selectmen voted on April 16 to dedicate the 2012 Town Report in memory of former selectman Robert "Bob" Pena, who died on Feb. 16, 2012. Chairman Jim Fay made a presentation to Pena's widow Joan in acknowledgement of her husband's many years of service to the town.

Pena served the town's first Communications Committee in 1998, followed by a term as selectman from 1999 to 2002.

Pena also served on the Capital Planning Committee, a Town Government Study Committee, the Commission on Disability, the Ayer Historical Commission, and chaired the first (Washington Street) Fire Station Reuse Committee.

Pena was also involved with the Chamber of Commerce and Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry on Devens. The Town Report will be made available at May 13 annual Town Meeting and thereafter in the selectmen's office.
