AYER -- Ayer Police continue to investigate the circumstances around a motor-vehicle accident on Park Street that took place at the end of the morning commute on Thursday.
A 57-year old Ayer woman was crossing Park Street in the crosswalk in front of Nu-Kar Auto Sales at approximately 8:45 a.m. when she was struck by a 2009 Kia Spectra sedan being driven by an 83-year-old Ayer man.
The female pedestrian was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer with nonlife-threatening injuries. Police continue to investigate the incident to determine if charges are warranted. Speed does not appear to have played a role on the crash, according to Lt. Brian Gill.
The Ayer police typically have an officer patrolling the nearby intersection of Park and Main streets during the busy morning commute. That morning, the officer cleared the intersection at 8:30 a.m. The accident occurred about 15 minutes later.
