Mandatory public records training
Letter to town employees and officials,
The Secretary of State's Public Records Division will be conducting MANDATORY Public Records Training in Ayer on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ayer Town Hall.
This training is the result of a mandatory directive of the Secretary of State's Public Records Division issued to the town on July 11, 2012.
I fully realize that the time of 10 a.m. to noon is not convenient for many who are working BUT the Public Records Division only offers their training from 10 a.m. to noon. I did try diligently to get an evening training but that is not possible. Therefore, I greatly appreciate your efforts to ensure your attendance at this important training.
The Public Records Training will be conducted by Attorney Donald White, of the Public Records Division. Additionally, hard copies of the training materials will be provided to all who are attending. Therefore, I must submit a count of all attending to the Public Records Division by Jan.
The Public Records Division and I realize that not everyone will be able to attend but we must insure that as many people as possible can attend. We will also be video-taping and audio-taping the training for the website.
We cannot close the Town Hall completely during the hours of 10 a.m. to noon but I will work with the department heads to make sure that all departments are represented.
Finally, for those of you who have elected and/or appointed boards, please insure that they know about this training ASAP and can attend. If a quorum of any appointed and/or elected Board will be present, the meeting must be posted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law, thus this training is an Open Meeting.
I greatly appreciate your immediate attention to this important training and please confirm your attendance with me by 3 p.m. on Jan. 4.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Thank you for your cooperation.
