AYER -- Ayer Library, 26 East Main St., will host award-winning artist Gregory John Maichack on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a hands-on workshop for adults, "The Art of Georgia O'Keefe." Space is limited, so call 978-772-8250 to register. All supplies are provided.
Maichack will give participants an engaging demo/lesson of basic and advanced pastel painting techniques. Focusing on Georgia O'Keefe's famous calla lily, beginners to advanced students will work in tandem with the artist, learning pastel handling techniques O'Keeffe used in her own art. Participants are encouraged to freely experiment with hundreds of the artist's professional-grade hard and soft pastels, and professional pastel paper.
"Greg Maichack's pastel workshops are Ayer Library's most popular adult program" says Assistant Director Julie Lacey. "We have offered these workshops several times. We fill every seat, and everyone is so pleased with both the program and with their own artwork!"
Artist Gregory Maichack lives in western Holyoke. He is an award-winning portraitist and painter working primarily in pastels.
