In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection's revised Water Management Act Permit issued to MassDevelopment, a mandatory water restriction is to be placed in effect whenever the USGS local stream gauge #01096500 at the Nashua River in East Pepperell is below a specified trigger point for three consecutive days.

The reading yesterday was below the threshold and we are anticipating with the hot dry weather ahead, it may be below the threshold for the next two days as well. If that happens, signage will be posted at the entrances to Devens announcing that water-use restrictions are in place.

Nonessential water use will be restricted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and that usage includes: irrigation of lawns via sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems; washing of vehicles, except in a commercial car wash or as necessary for operator safety; washing of external building surfaces, parking lots, driveways or sidewalks, except as necessary to apply surface treatments such as paint, preservatives, stucco, pavement or cement.

Once the restriction is lifted, the signage will be removed and an email will be sent out to everyone that is on this distribution list. Call Jim Moore at 978-784-2931 with any questions.
